About

Hi! I’m Crunklydunks, and I’m a crate digger from Canada.

I’ve started this blog to share some of the obscure, forgotten vinyl that I’ve collected over the years. I’ve been a visitor to many rare record download blogs since the 2000s in their heyday, thanks to my Belgian friend Pieter who introduced me to them many years ago, and I figured it was well beyond time to start giving back.

Everything here has been ripped by me, unless otherwise specified. I do my best to ensure that nothing I post has been reissued for digital purchase (including currently-available CDs) or on any streaming services officially. If you are the copyright owner or artist of anything that has been posted here, and you would like it taken down, please let me know and I will be happy to oblige. Also, if you’re aware of anything I’ve posted being reissued, please let me know and I’ll remove it.

Currently the images I’m posting of the album art/labels are shamelessly taken from Discogs, but soon I’ll have a decent rig for photographing large format cover art, and I’ll be sure to update with my own pics.

The equipment I use in my current ripping setup is an Audio-Technica AT-LP120X with AT-VM95ML microline cartridge, an ART DJPRE II preamp, a Tascam DR-40 digital recorder (recording at 24bit/96kHz), a Spin Clean record cleaning system (using TergiKleen and a second pass with distilled water rinse), and ClickRepair/iZotope RX 10 for post-processing. It’s certainly not a high-end setup by any means, but I’ve been pretty satisfied with the results.
